Real wood categorises both Solid and Engineered wood flooring. Solid wood flooring is one piece of wood for the full thickness of the board (usually 18-20mm). Engineered wood flooring is a real wood top on multi-layer ply backing (usually 12-21mm total thickness with real wood top 2-6mm thickness).

As stunning as real wood is, it must be looked after. It is susceptible to scratches, marks and dents and as a natural product is the least durable of floor coverings. If you are willing to look after it though, with regular maintenance and TLC, it is the the most stunning of floors to wow everyone.
